Roger Clapp, son of Mr. and Mr?. K. C. Clapp, Woodruff apartments, who enlisted en-listed several months ago in the aviation corps, has won his commission as lieutenant lieu-tenant and has been designated to active service In France, according to word from "Washington yesterday. Lieutenant Clapp, who is 24 years old, began his flying- career at a San Francisco Fran-cisco aeronautical school, passed an examination ex-amination In New York and went to France. He passed another examination abroad and attended two French flying schools, after which he joined the Franco-American flying corps. He has since been transferred to the American flying corps and made a lieutenant. C'app is a pilot in a two-place machine which carries an extra man as a gunner and bomb-dropper. |
