Show UNIVERSITY OF UTAH IS VICTOR IN DEBATE Brighani Young University Wins Its Contest With Agricultural College at Provo. By a vote of two to one the University" Univer-sity" o'f Utah debating team won over the Brigham Young university team last night at the university assembly hall. The question was, "" Resolved, That the United States government should adopt compulsory arbitration in all labor disputes." The University of Utah chamruoued the affirmative side. It was understood that the constitutionality constitu-tionality of the proposition was granted. The Ut,ah debaters were Lyman M. Smith, Gustave Larsen and Dan Smed-ley. Smed-ley. The Brigham Young university debaters were Frank Xewman, Howard Roberts and Miss Alfne Philips. The judges were Judge P. C. Evans, Charles M. Morris, Arch M. Cheney. Judge George G. Armstrong was chairman. chair-man. C. took the affirmative and the university the negative. neg-ative. Attornev "Wilson McCarthy of Salt Lake, the Rev. F.. T. Lewis of Logan and E. I'.. Hinckley of Brigham City were the judges. The teams were composed com-posed as follows: University, Nielson, Reicbmami and Miss Labon ' Sharp; U. A. C, Fife Hatch mid Hanson. Special to The Tribune. PROVO. March 1. By a decision of two to one the Brighani Young university univer-sity affirmative team won from tho Utah Agricultural college negative team in debate tonight. The question debated debat-ed was: "Resolved, That the United States government should adopt compulsory com-pulsory arbitration (constitutionality granted') in all labor disputes." The affirmative team comprised Leah Collings, Hannah Phillips and Willard Hawkins. The negative team consisted of L. S. Ballia, Russell Croft and L. W. Sorenson. Tho judges were Judge A. B. Morgan Mor-gan and Attorney J. W. Robinson of Provo and Attorney W. J. Barrette of Salt Lake. Attorney Jacob Coleman presided at the debate, which was held at the Brigham Brig-ham Young university. |
