Conyers, a druggist, both of Eureka., were fined $100 each or sixty day? in jail bv Judge w. H. Wilkins in the city police court yesterday when convicted of . drunkenness. drunken-ness. Tr. Hansel was also fined an additional ad-ditional $50 for disturbing the peace in the Newhouge hotel last Tuesday night. Both men immediately gave notice of appeal and total bail monev of $350 was exacted by the court. A portion of thia was put up bv County Clerk Thomas Homer, who also interested himself in the case of J. T. Sullivan. alo of Eureka, Eu-reka, when that young man was arrested arrest-ed for alleged drunkenness and given a beating iu the corridors of the police station on September 11. ''The police force has it in for os iust because we are 'Eureka guys' arid because young Sullivan came from that towu," said Hansel a$ he left the courtroom, court-room, ''hut we'll show them a thing or two if we have to bring a carload j of witnesses from home.' |
