Show WATTIS IS AWARDED CONTRACT FOR ROAD Special to The Tribune, i OGDKX, May 27. Announcement has ! been made here by W. H. Wattis upon his return, from fian KranrMsco that the ; Utah Construction company, of which he is president, has been awarded the contract con-tract for constructing a standard -gauge line for the Western Pacific railroad between be-tween Reno, New, and Cbilkoot, on the main line of the road near the crest of the Sierra Nevada mountains. There is now a narrow-gauge line over the route and the announcement of the coVitract confirms a recent report that the Western Pacific was negotiating for control of the line. The distance to be ! covered is about thirty-five miles, more I than half of which will be new line. Ac- cording to Mr. Wattis. it will be a diffi-j diffi-j cult piece of construction work, for the I reason that most of it is rock excavating, j The operating force on the contract will be assembled from points in eastern California. |
