Show WAR LEGISLATION BEFORE CONGRESS j Passage of First Administration Food Bill Expected Early in the Week. WASHINGTON, May 27. A variety of war legislation, new and nearlng completion, com-pletion, comes before congress this week. Calendars of both bodies and their committees com-mittees are replete with war bills, Including Includ-ing food, revenue, appropriation, commercial commer-cial and other measures for dealing with war conditions at home and abroad. Passage of the first administration food measure, providing for stimulation of production and a national food census, cen-sus, is expected early In the week. Soon afterwards will come the second bill for control of food supplies. After disposal of the food bill the house programme calls for consideration of the $3,342,000,000 war budget bill including in-cluding the $750,000,000 authorization for an America n merchant marine. As both branches plan to adjourn over Wednesday, Decoration day, the impending im-pending new fight over newspaper censorship cen-sorship In the espionage bill Is not expected ex-pected before Thursday. In the senate this week the finance committee continues and hopes to conclude con-clude revision of the house war tax bill vihile the senate Is debating the Initial food legislation. |
