Show OVER GREAT DESERT Lincoln Highway Associa-; tion Informs Governor of Its Intention. Browning, state road enginer, yesterd; Mr. Browning suggested that the association asso-ciation cast its lot with the state in tne maintenance of t he slate road from Salt Lake to Wendover. This road. upon reaching Wells, Nev., is merged into tne Overland I rail. The representatives said that the Lincoln Highway association was averse to joining in any project seeking to link a highway with another trail, trns . ; intention being to have a Lincoln high- . j way from coast to coast. Mr. Browning pointed out that the state road from Salt Lake to the Utah-Nevada I boundary was 1-1 miles, whereas the road j to be built by t he association would ue 164 miles. The association's officials said 'that the new road would take the place ! of the trail now running via Callao. T present roadway is 2uJ miles from Salt Lake to the state bonier. i The association will build a road from the east side of the mud flats, formerly, a jiart of Lake Bonneville, on the Great ; Salt Lake desert, to the base of Deep Creek mountains at the Utah-Nevada i boundary, The state wilt assist in the I general high. way scheme from Salt Lake to the state border. At present there is a highway from this city to Clover. The stale proposes to build and maintain a roa'.l from Orr's ranch.
