Show OR. FRED STAUFFER HEADS MEDICAL MER Full Set of State Officers Are Elected at Final Meeting Meet-ing of Convention. Dr. Fred Stauffer of Salt Lake City was elected president of the Utah State Medical Medi-cal association at a session held at the Hotel Utah yesterday morning by representatives repre-sentatives of various county medical societies so-cieties of the state. Other officers were elected as follows: Dr. A. .1. Stewart, Provo, first vice president; Dr. Fdward t. Rich, Ogden, second vice president; Dr. Ernest Van Oott, Salt Uake, third vice president; Dr. W. Brown Ewing, Salt Lake, secretary; Dr. F. A. Goultz, Salt Lake, treasurer; Dr. F. H. Smith, Ogden, councilor. Dr. T. J. Hov.-ell of Salt Lake City was chosen delegate to the American Ameri-can Medical association convention and Dr. J. K. Morrell of Ogden, alternate delegate. dele-gate. The outstanding- feature of the conven- tion was the illustrated lecture given ves- i terday morning by Dr. R. C. Corwin of Pueblo, Colo., special representative of the Rockefeller Institute. Dr. Corwin spent six months in a hospital in France and his lecture dealt largely with the discussion of the Carrel-Dakin method of treating wounds. He also explal ned the application of the tubes by which the irrigation ir-rigation method is made possible by moans of a laboratory demonstration. Dr. H. N Mayo, who recently was commissioned com-missioned a captain in the United States medical corps, stationed at Fort Douglas, expressed the opinion that the number of surgeons in the country should be reduced and declared that a closer co-operation should exist between the medical profession profes-sion and surgical society, i The convention concluded with yesterday yester-day afternoon's session, which was opened with a talk by Dr. I'armer Findley of i Omaha, who treated the subject of "The Obstetrics of the Iost Art." This was : followed by a report of the house of delegates dele-gates relative to the election of officers, ! after which the installation of Dr. Stauf- fer as president took place.
