Show BEAN CROP NOW A VALUABLE ASSET Special Report of Department of Agriculture Agri-culture Shows Large Increase Over Last Year's Bean Crop. WASHINGTON", Sept. 13. Beans take their place this year as one of the country 8 most important and yal-unble yal-unble crops. Forecast of production in the five important bean-growing states, Michigan, California, New York, Colorado and Xew Mexico, announced an-nounced by the department of agriculture agricul-ture today in a special report, shows 19.9H0.000' bushels, compared with 8.-S4C.00O 8.-S4C.00O bushels last year and 10,321,000 bushels in 1915. More than 1,300,000 acres were planted to beans in those states and the average farm price being paid for them on August 13 was $7.24 a bushel, compared with $4.60 on that date last rear. At the August 13 price, the prospective pros-pective crop was worth about $143,000,-000. $143,000,-000. Xo estimate was made for the I production in other states.
