Show RIDERS ARE PRIMED FOR HILL CLIMBING EVENT The first motorcycle event of the year will be hold this afternoon at rw o'clock. ' when more than a scorn of S;ilL Lake riders, and Including all nuiks of machines, ma-chines, will lest their powuia in a hill climb over the steep course mappiM out on Sup:ar Loaf mountain, north of Wasatch Wa-satch lrive. During the week the riders have bKn busy tuning up their machines and endeavor-ins to .send Uiem over the iilll of S00 feet and a grade ranging from 27 to 65 per cent. W. fc Theohold, manager man-ager of the local branch of t lie t'niied Slates Tire company, is In charge of the entries and will referee the events. Included in the list of entries are 5 such well-known riJers as Ray Peck, .1. Anderson, Karl Pcnnls, Les Reed, Ben Klltrrbeck. Red F.roiiheck and many others for botli events. The stock event, the first event scheduled sched-uled on the programme, is expected to be replete with thrills. Only stock machines will be used. In the free-for-all, or special spe-cial event, any machine with tractor wheels, special transmission, etc., is eligible. eligi-ble. Jn the special event an idea of what a motorcycle can really do under trying conditions will lie made evident. No admission will be charged the spectatois. The course may be renched by the Sixth avenue car, getting off at the C.ity cemetery and walking north. Machine's can reach the course by following fol-lowing the Wasatch boulevard. Following are the rules of the events: Stock event--Limit gear ratio, 12 to 1; must lie 61 cubic inches displacement; must lie three-speed motor, weighing .approximately .ap-proximately ;:t' pounds. Two trials will be allowed and time taken. Riders will be allowed to take off front mud gua.-d and muffler. Any kind of traction device de-vice except a traction band. AM special machines will he. barred from this event. The special event frill consist of any weight machine, any gear ratio, Gl cubic Inch nioter, anv special type motor, any kind of traction device two-speed, three-spued three-spued or direct drive. |
