Show T 111 RECEPTION . mm success President Widtsoe Prophesies Prophe-sies Great Future for State Institution. A brilliant reception at which the repents, re-pents, faculty and alumni of the University Uni-versity of Utah were hosts was tendered in honor of the graduating class at the administration building, university campus, cam-pus, last night. Several hundred were in attendance. The national spirit prevailed pre-vailed in artistic combination of the national na-tional colors and those of the allies, the librarv and the main hall of the building, build-ing, where the dancing was held, being-decorated being-decorated with a profusion of flags. The evening commenced with the annual alumni meeting at 7:30 o'clock. The officers of the association were reelected re-elected for next year. Shortly before 9 o'clock a programme was given in the library, consisting of musical numbers by the University Women's Glee club, the men's quartette and Miss Agnes Cllve. President John A. Widtsoe then addressed the guests, slating that the progress made by the university during the past year was highly encouraging to him. He gave thanks to those who had co-operated with the heads of the institution and expressed ex-pressed the belief that the needs of the university would soon be supplied and a steady growth would be noted in the future. That the University of Utah has the largest enrollment in proporition to state population of any state institution in the country and that its total enrollment was greater than that of the oilier Utah colleges col-leges combined were facts given out by the president. He also suggested to the alumni that plans be put under way for tiie commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary anni-versary "next year of the rebirth of the university under John R. Park. Following Follow-ing the programme, the regents, faculty, officers of the alumni association and their wives formed in a line for the reception re-ception of graduates and other guests. Dancing' on the lower floor completed the events of the evening. |
