Show NOTED ARCHITECT TO BE GUESTDF LEAGUE John T. Comes Will Address Ad-dress Catholic Women and Escalante Club. Announcement was made yesterday by Mrs. Arthur H. S. Bird, president of the Catholic Woman's league of Salt Lnke. that John T. Comes of Pittsburg, noted architect and authority on church art and architecture, would deliver a public address ad-dress on "The Church and Art" in the ballroom of the Hotel Utah next Thursday Thurs-day evening at S o'clock. The lecture will be given under the p.itronagre of the league, and the public generallyis invited to be present. No admission will be charged. Mr. Comes will illustrate his lecture with a set of beautiful stere-opticon stere-opticon views of famous pieces of church art and architecture. Mr. Comes will arrive in Salt Lake Tuesday, to be the guest of honor at the May dinner of the Escalante club, which is to be held in the Hotel Utah at T:o,( o'clock Tuesday evening. Mr. Comes will also address the members of the Escalante Es-calante club on church art and will use stereopticon slides to illustrate his address. ad-dress. Rev. Joseph S. Glass, C. M D. D., an intimate friend for many years. Mr. . Comes will probably remain in Salt LakQ about a week, consulting with Biahop Glass on the redecoration and remodeling work which is being done on the Ca- . thedial of the Madeleine. Mr. Comes is the crea tor of the decorative scheme which is now being carried out in the cathedral. Bishop Glass, who has been In San Francisco consulting with Archbishop Edward Ed-ward J. Hanna, will return Tuesday in time to greet Mr. Comes and to attend the Kscaiante club dinner. |
