Show WILLI AGAIN TO WORK WITH CIRCUS World Champ Signs Eight Months' Contract; Title Fight Is Remote. By International News Sendee. CHICAGO, Feb. 22. No battle for the heavyweight championship of the world will be staged before next winter, for Jess Willard, the titleholder, has heard and heeded the call of the sawdust1 ring again. He signed a contract to exhibit twice a day during the season with a circus, beginning April 14 and ending November No-vember 1. "The terms were the best I was ever offered and I couldn't turn a deaf ear," said Willard. It was said the title being the only asset which made such a contract possible, pos-sible, Willard would not risk losing It by engaging In a bout with any of his challengers; chal-lengers; neither would he risk injuries which would make it impossible for him to appear with the circus. The contract stipulates, however, that Willard may quit the circus on three weeks' notice any time a match, is arranged ar-ranged for him. |
