Show JUNIORS WIN FIRST IN L. D. S. U. SERIES Opening Contest Is Ragged Affair; Neither Five Shows Class During Battle. The first game of the interclasss basketball bas-ketball series at the Tj. D. S. U. yesterday yester-day a fternonn between the juniors and freshmen resulted in an overwhelming victory for the third -year boys. The final score read 37 to 6, and of the six points credited to the infants not one i was made via the field goal route. Four j foul throws and two points awarded by the referee was the sum u total of the i freshles' efforts to roll up a score. The juniors started the game with a rush and gave evidence of good playing, but they seemed to lose all their class as the game progressed, and were playing ragged ball when the whistle sounded for the end of the first half. Their second half produced more improved work, as the juniors used fresh men. They could not Bcore on the milkers with any degree of certainty and, although innumerable chances were offered, their points went up very slowly. Preece was the stellar performer for the winners, making six nld goals and tossing the ball through the hoop three times out of three chances from the foul line. Ferrin also showed ability, scoring four field goals. Ferrin ia a former player from Oregon and gives promise of becoming becom-ing an excellent man with proper coaching. coach-ing. Clawson played a strong game at guard during Ills short period on the floor, playing only the last rew minutes of the game.
