Show BAPTISTS OF UTAH CLOSEJMENTION Thirty-second Annual Gathering Gath-ering of Church Workers Is Big Success. MaTked by the largest attendance in the history of the denomination in Utah, the most distinctive enthusiasm and the most complete harmony in the working out of the problems presented, pre-sented, the Utah Baptist state convention con-vention was brought to a close last night at the Burlington Baptist church after nine sessions, extending over a period of three days. The feature of the morning session was the address of the Rev. L. S. Bowerman, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist church, Salt LakOj on ' 1 Tithing, the Minimum Basis of Giving." Dr. Bowerman strongly advocated ad-vocated the 10 per cent donation system sys-tem at adopted and urged by the Mormon Mor-mon church. A general discussion of the problems of educational advancement in the church took up a large portion of the afternoon session, and the establishment establish-ment of a $6,000,000 endowment fund for educational purposes within the next five years was advocated and approved. 'The question of compensation compen-sation for the superannuated workers in the church was also considered, the sentiment of the convention being for a $2,000,000 fund for this end. At the conclusion of the afternoon session luncheon was served in the church hall, ministers of other denominations de-nominations and prominent laymen of the city being guests of honor to tho number of about twenty, among them being E. G. Caster, local secretary of the Y. M. C. A., and Lieutenant V. R. Bell of the U. S. A. The Rev. Dr. George L. White of Los Angeles and the Rev. Dr. Springs-ton Springs-ton of Portland, Ore., delivered the principal addresses at the evening session.
