Show CITIZENS ARE ASKED TO CONSERVE WATER Supply Yesterday Ran to Ebb Because of Wholesale Sprinltling, Superln-intendent Superln-intendent Barrett Says. Due to en re I ess waste of water, ae curding to water official?, the citv is again facing g shortage of supply. There was but 2o.OOtt.0UO gallons daiiy coming into the system yesterday, which would be enough if the sprinkfing regulations reg-ulations were observed generally, but it is, allege! that in the past few Java ihf public has taken to a general disregard dis-regard of the regulations. The supply has been gradually diminishing dimin-ishing since the warm weather set in, following the first Sept ember storms, and is now lower than at any time this rammer. Of course, the consumption is naturally less now than during the hotter hot-ter weather, but unless a curb is put upon the consumption a serious situation situa-tion will occur, according to C. F. Barrett, Bar-rett, superintendent of waterworks. There was but 1.5 feet of water in the Thirteenth Baal repervoir vesterdav. the entire reserve having been drawn off as a result of wholesale sprinkling throughout through-out the city. Today and tomorrow are non sprinklmg days and it is hoped that some reserve can he obtained. No increase in the flow of the streams can be expected for at 'east another month. The whole problem lies in conservation con-servation of the present supply. |
