Kvery building has been thoroughly renovated. The total to-tal enrollment at noon today was 1S77. as compared with 1732 for tho first day Lust year. This docs not include the high school, which opens one week from today. Superintendent E. Eggertsen said today that the enrollment this year would far exceed that of last year and that Provo has a first-class corps of teachers. He adds that the teachers' institute, which was held last week, did , effective preparatory work for the open-In?. open-In?. Flag day was observed in every school this afternoon and appropriate exercises were held in honor of the centenary of the composing of the "Star Spangled Banner." bv Francis Scol.t Key. At noun the puMls of each building marched out, singing the the national anthem, and saluted the flag. Reed Beck, principal of the Maesar school, reports an enrollment of 503 this forenoon, aa against 443 the first day last year. X. F. Wilson, principal of the Parker school, reports an enrollment of 419 today. to-day. S. P. Eggertsen of the Franklin school, opened todav with an enrollment of 460 I this vear. as against 45S last year. I Principal N F. Young reports an en- rollment of 335 at- the Timpanogas j school. I George Powelson, principal of the Cen-1 Cen-1 tral schcool. reports an enrollment of 151 1 in the eighth grade. This school houses the high school as well as the eighth I grade. |
