Political party i organizations were perfected hero this week through the organization of county central committees, made up of precinct committeemen elected at the primaries held September 1. The law this year provided for the election of precinct committeemen com-mitteemen Instead of their appointment, as vrh the case two years ago. The respect re-spect ie county central committees, besides be-sides perfecting county organizations, created the new Htate central committees by t- letii m state committeemen. The state committees will conduct the gen- era I election campaigns l or the parties I with candidates In the race for office. I In Ada county, of which Botso is the 'county seat, the folowing county cliair- men and state commit teement were : elected: j .Republican State committeeman, I John Evans; state chairman, D. A. : Dunning. Democratic John F. Nugent, state I committeeman; H. C. Hindman, county i chairman. I Progressive H. S. Sheridan, state committeeman.; com-mitteeman.; Frank B. Johnessee, county chairman. Socialist C. H. Cam mans, state committeeman; com-mitteeman; Q. A, Baldwin, county chair-! chair-! man. v j With the exception of the Democratic I county central committee meeting har- mony prevailed. The Democrats split on I the old Hawley-Nugent fight. The Nugent Nu-gent people were In control and a lively time followed. Nugent was elected state committeeman. He was defeated by James H. Hawley for the nomination for United States senator, but ia called upon In his selection as committeeman to endeavor en-deavor to secure his former rivaTs election. elec-tion. The county ticket, especially the legislative, leg-islative, is largely composed of Hawley men, but, having gained control of the county committee, the Nugent faction will manage their campaign. The Nu-gents Nu-gents are strongly "dry." The Hawley faction Is consld ered "wet." |
