Show ISSUED 60,440 BOOKS. Annual Report Shows That Institution Contains Almost 100,000 Volumes. OGDEN, July 19. Nearly 10,000 volumes vol-umes Is the total number of books now contained in the Carnegie free library In this city, according to the annual report re-port recently submitted by Librarian Grace W. Harris to the board of city commissioners. The hooks added during the last twelve months numbered 1923, malting a grand total of 9660, but this does not Include the bound government documents. Among the principal donations dona-tions for the year were sixty books in the German language, the gift of G. A. Backer. The report also shows that 60,440 books were Issued for home use as compared with 46,516 for thfe previous year. The reading: attendance has an average of 120 daily, not Including the visitors to the circulating, reference or children's departments. de-partments. The record attendance for a single day was 780 persons. The librarian has received reports to the effect that the forty books placed in each of four outlying out-lying school buildings are in almost constant con-stant use by the students. This department depart-ment of library work Is to be enlarged In the near future. |
