Show DONATE FUNDS FOfl CliUTAP DEFICIT Ogden Promoters Determined Deter-mined That Movement Shall Not Fail. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July 19. Although the final dncision will not be reached until the meeting of the association stockholders on Tuesday, July 28, it seems reasonably reason-ably certain that another Utah Chautauqua Chau-tauqua assembly -will be held In litlo. This is the opinion of Dr. E. P. Mills, secretary of the association, who declared today that the people of Ogden do not want to see a failure of the Chautauqua movement in this state. The amount of money contributed during; dur-ing; the past few days, nearly $1000 is sufficient, according to Dr. Mills, to cover the deflolt existing on the present as-!Sbl'. as-!Sbl'. but there remains unpaid about 00 of the indebtedness on the 1913 assembly. as-sembly. When the attendance this vear fell short of furnishing enough funds to defray the expenses, it was felt by those behind the movement and who have put up considerable money every year that this would be the last assembly. A final apeal was made for contributions, contribu-tions, with the result that the 1914 deficit has been covered. The plan that has now been taken up to Insure the financing financ-ing of a 1915 assembly is to solicit pledges in the amounts of S5. S10 pnd S5 muko up any deficit that may exist on the next year's meeting. So far the proposition propo-sition has met with favor and the amount pledged before July 28 will influence the stockholders in reaching a decision for or against another annual assembly. Although not what was expected by the directors, there was a fair attendance at today s final sessions of the 1914 assembly. assem-bly. The programme of the afternoon and evening meetings was one of the most interesting of the entire ten days. |
