Show hp coins II EUROPE ADVERSE Bull Wheat Market in Chicago Chi-cago in Consequence; Corn Lower; Oats Stationary. CHICAGO, May 9. Adverse Crop conditions con-ditions in Europe from the Atlantic to the Black sea more than counterbalanced today the effect of the great wheat harvest har-vest which is looked for in the United States. ' The close was steady, at a gain of a shade to iac net. Corn finished hli c off to Jc up. oats unchanged to l-16c lower, and provisions virtually the same as last night. Bulls had the advantage in wheat from the start until the last tap of the bell.' There was good authority for statements that the foreign business here reached a big total, notwithstanding that only 200,000 bushels was specifically confirmed. In addition to the fact that all European Euro-pean quotations were higher and that sharp competition was hi progress for cargoes, the bull side pointed to rapidly decreasing stocks northwest and southwest south-west alike. Although Argentine storms made corn advance a little, the market weakened. Country offerings here increased, and larger offerings are expected soon. Planting Plant-ing in Illinois is expected to be complete by the end of next week. Trading in oats was mainly local and the price almost at a dead center. Provisions ruled barely steady. Shorts were about the only buyers. RANGE OP THE LEADING FOTUTtES. Closing prices: Wheat May. S3ic; July, Soc. Corn C6ic; July, 65c.
