WITHIN" the next few days the final touches will be added to the splendid ehorna bodies which will present Leoncavallo's Leoncaval-lo's ' 'I 'Pagliaeoi ' ' on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings of this week. The principals show fine mastery mas-tery of their several parts, and the big orchestra has the accompaniment well in hand. Professor Giles lias worked hard for these gratifying results, and it will be contrary to all indications if this operatic op-eratic performance is not tho musical treat ot the season. All who have been fortunate enough to hear some of the rehearsals have been enthusiastic. It has beeu .several years since this little em uf grand cf-cra was played in Salt Lake, and then it was only given hair a performance, the other naif of the afternoon beln; given to a iike short rendition of "Cavalleria Rusticaua." In neither of these, productions produc-tions was there any attempt at tne full ensemble presentation which the local company is providing. The songs of ' t'ngliacei, ' ' though of highest classical rank, are inspired with a universal appeal that never fails to reach every heart in the audience, ''('anio's" souj ar the end of act one, ontitled "On with the Play,' is a wonderful tale of passion, with tears iu every note. It is a favorite selection selec-tion with celebrated tenors the world over. "Ndda" sings a pretty little duet with violin, which to ail lovers of music, is worth almost any admission price. In addition to a number of prominent promi-nent soloists, including David Keese of New York and Miss Edna Evans, the following local singers will appear in the big chorus: Sopranos and altos: Lisle Bradford.
