Show KESLER HITS PLACE . IN PGSM SERViCi Gives Noble Warrum Resignation Resig-nation aa Assistant Postmaster. A. P. Kesler, assistant postmaster, in a letter to Postmaster Noble Warrum yesterday, resigned his position, to take effect next Saturday. Mr. Kesler gave as his reason a statement that he had been informed of a probable reorganization reorgan-ization of the local postoffice by the postoffice department which would practically abolish the office of assistant assist-ant postmaster. The letter of resignation read as follows: fol-lows: United States Postoffice, , Salt Lake City. Utah, May 1, 1914. Honorable Noble Warrum, Postmaster, Post-master, City. Dear Sir I am informed that the postoffice department contemplates the reorganization of the Salt Lake postoffice under the two-division plan, that of finance and mails, the same that has been effected in Portland, Denver and other first-class first-class offices, which practically abolishes the independent office of assistant postmaster, as we are now organized, and places the duties of this office on one of tho superintendents. superin-tendents. As this appears to be a matter of economy by the department. I do not feel justified in continuing longer in the Bervice, and herewith here-with tender my resignation, to take effect May 1(3, .1914. I am, respectfully. A. P. KESLER, Assistant Postmaster. When askctl regarding the resignation resigna-tion and the probability of the appointment appoint-ment of a successor to Mr. Kesler yesterday yes-terday Postmaster Warrum said: The resignation of Mr. Kesler as my assistant came so unexpectedly that I have not had time to give the matter much consideration. I had not anticipated his retirement and therefore have not thought of the question of a successor. However, that appointment will be made by the officials of the department in Washington. Despite the possible reorganization of this office under un-der the first-class office plan with a superintendent of finance and a superintendent of mails 1 believe that another assistant postmaster will be named. |
