Show If Oil LESSEES GETTMT ZIIC Gemini Will Resume During Dur-ing Week With Small Number. With spelter steadily climbing toward the $S point. General Manager J. C. Dick has announced that eleven blocks of ground in the May Day mine have been turned over to lessees that are now mining min-ing zinc ore. He also announced that shipments have been resumed from the property, and that the company expects to continue to send out the ore lor some time to come. At the meeting of the directors of the company, which is to be held today, it is expected that a --cent dividend will be posted. A year or more ago, when zinc was bringing a very good price, although not as much as at present, the May Day shipped a considerable quantity of this character of ore, and while the old workings work-ings of the mine no doubt contain con-siaerable con-siaerable zinc, there is notliing but small deposits in sight at this time. The leasers leas-ers will, however, not have to sort the ore so carefully at this time, as anything over 28 per cent zinc can be shipped. There is, perhaps, money to be made in zinc ore that carries less than 28 per cent, but for the time being the smelters will not accept It, an order being given that It must go 2S per cent or better. The main raise in the May Day, giving the company a much better outlet for the new body of lead -silver ore, should be completed within the next few days. Officials of the Gemini Mining company com-pany have decided to reopen the mine to lessees, and while information of a definite defi-nite nature has not been given out, it is safe to say that work will be resumed during the present momth, and possibly a small number of men will be put to work there during the coming week. Superintendent J. H. McChrystal has been in Salt Lake for the purpose of conferring con-ferring with his brother, Jacitson McChrystal, Mc-Chrystal, who is the manager of the company, com-pany, and both state that work is to be taken up notwithstanding the fact that the price of silver is still at or near the 4S-cent mark. The leasing system will again be put into force, and in view of the fact that there is a great deal of ore exposed In the mine, a large number of men will no doubt go to work just as soon as they are given an opportunity. |
