Show WIREMEN WISH NEW AGREEMENT Negotiations Pending for Change in Terms Decided Upon a Year Ago. A new scale of wages nnd agreement respecting working conditions arc under consideration by the Inside Wiremcn's union and the electrical companies of Sujt Lake. The agreement entered into a year ago will expire April 1 and the negotiations Intended to bring alxwt a new agreement are now pending. The men ask an Increase In wages of 50 cents a day, the advance being from Sl.fiO, thu present rate, to ?5 a day. It is understood that the employing companies com-panies have agreed to the Increases. The negotiations now are on the working conditions. B. A. Wilcox, business agent of the Inside WIremcn. said lust night that he was ronfldent that an adjustment of the points still unsettled would be reached. "Negotiations aro still going on." sala Mr. Wilcox, "and wo hope to arrive at an agreement hy the time our present agreement expires. Wo look for no trouble and any suggestion that a strlko Is probable Is altogether prumature. There are ntlll some points of difference between our proposed working conditions and those tho employing companies desire de-sire to put into effect, but I think we can get around thoso difficulties and arrive ar-rive at an agreement without resort to radical measures." |
