Blossom Desires to Accept Ac-cept a More Lucrative Place. In order that ho ma3r bo free to accept a more lucrative position, City Engineer D. H. Blossom will today tender his resignation to the city commission. com-mission. Mr. Blossom's letter of resignation res-ignation will request that he bo relieved re-lieved from duty not later than April 1. In the event that his successor bo not appointed, before April 1, it is Baid that John Duder, at present the assistant city engineer, will become acting city engineer. It is also rumored that Mr. Dudbr's resignation will closely follow that of his chief. Mr. Blossom was chosen as city engineer en-gineer by the board of commisioners ou December 30, 1911. and his official appointment was made on January 2, 1912. When asked concerning his resignation res-ignation last night, Mr. Blossom stated that his relations with tho commission had been most pleasant and that tho only thing which, influenced his decision decis-ion was the receipt of a bigger opportunity. oppor-tunity. He would not state the exact nature of his prospective employment, nor its location, but said that ho was to bo retained in a consulting capacity. Mr. Blossom is a native of Vermont, having been born at Pallet in that state, September 10, 1872. Ho recoivod most of his education there, being graduated from Middlebury college at Middlebury, Vt., with a Ixichelor of arts degroo in 1S96. The following two years he attended at-tended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from which ho received a degree in civil engineering in 1898. Mr. Blossom came to Utah in 1899 and siuco then has had. his headquarters headquar-ters in Salt. Lake City. After coming hero ho occupied a position in the office of-fice of tho survej'or general until the spring of 1905, when he accepted the position of chief cnginoer for tho American Falls Canal & Power company. com-pany. Wliilo there ho had active supervision of the location and tho construction con-struction of this company's canals, being be-ing general manager for tho companj when ho loft its service about two years ago. He then became chief engineer for tho King Hill, a reclamation project near Glenns Ferry, Idaho, which position posi-tion he held until ho accepted his present pres-ent post. |
