Frank Burke of the Col.onial company as a result of the fall taken by that actor at Sunday night's performance of "The Sign of the, Cross- may result more seriously than was supposed. Doth of Mr. Burke's knees were- severely se-verely cut and he was so 'bruioed and nattered about the body that it was wltn the greatest difficulty that he filled Ills rolo at tho Colonial last night. His physician is endeavoring to get him Into shape so that he can continue throughout through-out the week. His rolo in "The Sign of the Cross" is one of tho most important in the big cast, or Mr. Kelly would not have permitted per-mitted his chaTactor actor to attempt the part Monday. Mr. Burke ie big and heavy, and when he tripped at the moment of his entrance en-trance on the stage in the last act Sunday Sun-day night, he -went down extremely hard and slid and rolled fuliy twenty feet to the apron of the stage. The depression at tho footlights stopped him at that point after the force of his fall had smashed almost thirty of the globes. The cuts on IiIh limbs required immediate dressing and unless blood poisoning should set in, there Ib no danger of more serious seri-ous consequences than' a possible inability in-ability to continue with Ills work for a week or two. |
