Mr. Whlttell Is reported to be a man of independent wealth, nnd the Sentinel believes that if his associates do not Join him In the enterprise he will rebuild re-build the railroad Into Eureka himself, and also that the decision as to reconstruction recon-struction will not be long delayed. Eureka (Nov.) Sentinel, June 2. George Whlttell of San Francisco, one of the stockholders of tho Eureka & Pnllsado railroad, has redeemed the properly which was sold last winter to tho United States Smelting company, and has announced his intention of rebuilding rebuild-ing It-Mr It-Mr Whlttell was in Eureka last week and is quoted as saying he took a very opeful view of the railroad situation -md that he felt, after visiting Eureka nnd Inspecting some of tho mines, very much encouraged as to tho future. He was one of tho original bondholders of tho company before it went Into the hands of the receiver some years ago. From his observations In tho Eureka district he thought Ihe reconstruction of tho rond ought to be profitable and that only about ten miles of the road will have to be reconstructed- Ely Expositor. |
