BATTLESHIP DELAWARE REPRESENTS UNCLE SAM Great Nations Send Warships of First Class; Others Send Coast Defense Vessels. LONDON, Saturday. June 3. The great naval review by King George at Splthead, June 21, two days after the coronation, will see gathered together in full commission com-mission tnc largest number of vessels of the Dreadnought class ever assembled. Most of them naturally will be units of the British navy, but tho United States will be represented by the most powerful up-to-date battleship participating partici-pating Ir. the review, the Delaware, which Is considered In naval circles to typify the latest ideas nf battleship construction. con-struction. Vanguard, Bellerophon, Temeralre. Superb and Dreadnought. To these will be added four cruisers of the Invincible class, the Indefatigable, Invincible, inllexlblo and Indomitable. Germany Is the only other nation to send a Dreadnought. This will be the Von dor Tann, declared to be the fastest warship In tho world. The other foreign naval powers are sending vessels of the pre-Drcadnoughi class, although In some Instances the? are of quite recont construction. France will be represented by the Danton. Jopan by the Kurama. Austria by the Radetzky, Italy by the San Marco, Russia bv the Rossi. Spain by the Relna Regente. Argentina Ar-gentina by the Buenos Ayres, Chile by the Chacubuco, Sweden b the Fylgla. Turkey by the Hamldlch and China by the Hai-Chi. Denmark, Holland and Norway arc to be represented by small coast defense vessels. Review by King and Queen. All the vessels at the Review. Including Includ-ing the foreign warships and passenger ships with spectators, will be moored In lines, supplemented by shorter lines for the torpedo boats and submarines. The boundaries of the review ground enclose ar area of about eighteen square miles. There will be 170 British war vessels of various types present. The king and queen will pass through the lines on board tho royal yacht Victoria Vic-toria and Albert which will he accompanied accom-panied by two other royal yachts, the Alexandra and the Alberta. As the royal yacht approaches each vessel In tho line a salute- will be fired, and at tho samo time the shore batteries batter-ies will Join in the greeting. |
