Show PIONEER IS CALLED. John Crawford. Who Came to Utah In 1863, Dies at Brlnhah City. Special lo The Tribune. BRIGI-TAM CITY. June 11. John Crawford, Craw-ford, another of Brigham's old residents, died this morning al 0:40 o'clock at his home on North Main street at the age oi 73 years and 1 months. Mr. Crawford, who was a member of the Box Elder high council of the Mormon church, had been one of the most active church workers work-ers In the city, having spent Ihe greater part of his life In the promotion of his faith. Fie Joined the church March 16, 1S40, and for nearly two vears was president presi-dent of tho Ardrlo branch, Lanarkshire. Scotland. Mr. Crawford emigrated io Utah in 1SG... crossing the plains In Warren Snow s company as far as Fort Kearney. Neb., where he was transferred to another an-other company, lie Allied a two vears' mission to Scotland in 1SS2-SH. Mr. Crawford Craw-ford was born February 17, 1S32. in Paisley. Pais-ley. Renfrewshire, Scotland. ATtcr reaching reach-ing Utah he located with his parents in Ogden, having resided here since that time. The immediate cause of Crawford's Craw-ford's death was general debility and old ago, although he had been ill for nearly one year. He was Just beginning to eel out and around again during the past wcolc. Mr. Crawford is survived bv an aged wife, two sons and two daughters. No definite arrangements for the funeral fu-neral services have been made, but the services will likely bo held In this citv about Wednesday, when the remains will bo shipped to Ogden for interment. |
