Fred Dern, local mining engineer, who Is In the Ely district for the purpose or Inspecting the property of the Ely Centennial Cen-tennial company, wired from camp to local Interests Saturday to the effect that ho had found conditions at tho mlno up io every expectation, and that It had all the earmarks of making a "big one." As a. result of Mr. Dcrn's findings, It Is practically assured now that the Dern Interests will enter the company and push It along with tholr other properties. There Is much activity at the Centennial Centen-nial at tho present time. The now machinery ma-chinery is being placed, as rnpldly as possible, and all plans arc being laid for a campaign of cxtenslvo development work. It Is the plan of the company to construct con-struct at once a powder magazine, by driving a tunnel Into the mountain side, and concretjng it. closing it with heavy Iron doors to prevent possibility of damage dam-age to the property, and tho possible injury or death of tho men by accidental explosion of tho small stock that Is usually usu-ally kept on hand. Road Finished. The road from the tunnel mouth to the valley has been completed nnd the machinery will be hnuled within the next few days. The crews have boon averaging averag-ing from four to live feet dally, with hand wprk When the new plant is placed, they will average from ten to fifteen feet dally. The tunnel Is now In a distance of 500 feet. It Is the Intention of the company to .continue the tunnel to a distance of 1000 feet from the surface and then drive east and west drifts on the ore, at the same time sinking on the ore. The drifts will eventually be carried to tho shaft, and the other tunnel, uniting all tho workings or the properly. It is expected that shipping will be commenced com-menced about July 1.
