Show UNITED STATES MARINES BARRED FROM THEATER By Associated Press. WASHINGTON. March 12. Two Unltod States marines in uniform were denied admission to a local theatre last night. The man at the door prevented their entering and handed them back the money they had paid for their tickets. Explanations wore demanded, but were not given. The marines denied admission were Corporal Edward Powoll and Private Pri-vate Samuel B. Atgas of tho United States steamship Mayflower. The refusal of admission to the. marines ma-rines was not tho first of Its kind which hnd occurred recently at the same theatre. the-atre. A conforcncc was held yesterday between the proprietor and officers of tho naval department. Tho proprietor told the officers that he excluded them under a rule of the theatre prohibltlngadmls-, slon of persons conspicuously dressed. He said. "Even President Taft would bo excluded exclud-ed if ho applied for admission dressed In a sweater and riding clothes." Patriotic societies have made an Issue of the matter and further conferences are to bo held pending possible action on tho part of tho excluded sailors. |
