Show NEWTON CALLED DOWN IN DISTRICT COURT Police Court AUoniey Starts Something, but Doesn't Finish It. Mr. Loofbourow opposed op-posed the motion for postponement, whereupon Newton proceeded to call the district attorney a. "low ward heeler," and accused him of contemptible practices prac-tices and with resorting to "unscrupulous "unscrupu-lous tricks of a ward politician." Judge Lewis Informed Newton that such language should not and could not bo used In I1I3 court, as he would not permit Ij. Mr. Newton then subsided. Furcy was convicted last week of robbing rob-bing tho Finch cafe and was to have been sentenced Saturday, but his- attorney at-torney asked for a postponement of tho sentenco for twenty days. This was objected ob-jected to by the district attorney, and after the lioublo between the two attorneys at-torneys was over. Judge Lewis postponed post-poned the time of sentenco until Tuesday, Tues-day, but declared that there would be no further postponement. Newton will have to perfect his appeal by that date. |
