Show LEGiSLATOBS FROM SALT LAKE CONFER Several Members-Elect to tho Lower House Hold an informal in-formal Conference. There was an informal meeting of several members-elect from Salt Lake county to the lower house of the next legislature in the office of E. C. Ashton in the Deseret National Bank building on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was called, it is said, to consider a number of matters that will como up beforo the legislature, particularly particu-larly as to tho speakership and the minor places to be filled. Those present at the meeting were Daniel McRae, Edward J. Eardley, Hugh McMillin, Claude flnssoll and Mr, Ashton. In reality it was a meeting wherein the members wero to get acquainted, ac-quainted, rather than to discuss tho mattor of place. As one of those pres-. pres-. ent expressed it. "it was to consider Utah first, as while ,the legislators-elect present were elected from Salt Lake count3r they were also elected for the purpose of legislating, not for Salt. Lako alone but for tho state at large." Tho questions as to speaker or ofneo holding were not. discussed. Another meeting will be held at a latter date, when these matters, no doubt, will bo taken up and considered. |
