Show WHEAT MARKET QUIET but mm FIRM Strength Mainly Due to Covering Cover-ing by Shorts; News of the Day Bearish. CHICAGO. Dec. 23. Trade in the wheat pit was again quiet, but the market mar-ket was firm all day. with the exception of a, brief period at the start, when slight declines wero recorded al60 selling brought out by lower prices st Liverpool. The strength was mainly due to the desire of shorts to "ex-on up" for the Christmas holidays. Demand was chiefly :or the December dollvery. and offerings during the greater part of the day wero rather meager. News was scantv and principally of a bearish character. Weather Weath-er in Argentine was favorable for harvest operations and export demand was extremely ex-tremely dull. Tho market closed firm at almost the top notch, with May $1.06S 1.06S. and July OGJc Cash corn was up ug)lc at the sample tables. The market closed firm, with prices up i(5sc. with May and July at 61c. Tho oats market closed firm, with prices showing net gains of 2is to 3c. May closing at 51jc and July at 465 46Zc.
