Stenger of tho Denver Den-ver & Rio Grande depot In this city has received notice that seven of the new passenger pas-senger locomotives reccntls' purchased bs' the road will bo sent to this city in a few days. F. W. Walts of Chicago, who is in charge of tho construction of tho new Denver & Rio Grande passenger station, to bo erected in this cits, and who for tho past soveral months has been In this city superintending tho excavating and pllo driving, has gone to Chicago to spend tho holidays with his famlls there. He will return to Salt Lake Cits early next month and will then bring his famlls' out here with him, to make this cits their homo until the new depot is completed. The new Western Pacific lino between Shaftcr, Nov., and Wells, a distance of over forty-four miles, will be opened tip within tho next das' or two, according to adviceB received In this cits Wcdnesdas'. Tho lino is now completed and a few tralnloads of coal have already passed over It. but It has not yot beon opened up for general traffic. The local clerical force of tho road, under the direction of S. V. Dorrah, who Is in charge of the traffic end of tho line, Is busily engaged formulating tho tariff rates for the new road. |
