Stovo Adams, member of the Western Jrcdoration of ALinera, was acquitted of tho murder of Arthur Collins this afternoon. after-noon. Collins, who was manager of the Smuggler-Union mino at Tclluridc. was i shot through a window of his office on the night of November 10, 190-, whilo playing cards with friends. Defendant, Discharged. After the dork of the court had read tho verdict. Adams was ordered dis- charged by Judge Slinekleford. Adams' immediately bteppod to tho .jury box and shook hands with each one of' the jurors, and thanked them for finding him not guiltv Ifo also thanked tho! members of the Western Federation of Miners who aro here for their support, and encouragement during his long imprisonment im-prisonment and trial. Adams left tho court room with William Wil-liam ISnstcrl.v, another, prominent fedor-ationist. fedor-ationist. and joined Mrs. Adams at the hotel where she hud been staying during the trial. No move was made to re-arrest Adams on any of the other murder charges growing out of the Colorado labor troubles, and it is said he will be permitted to go free, as the authorities are convinced of tho impossibility of securing a conviction in any of these oases. |
