Show MFIIBH TITLE Provo They Are Christians by Using Their Fists on Skeptics. FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY ROYS AT MEETING Members Juvenile Betterment League Relate Experiences During Past Week. Because they were Christians nnd trying try-ing to be better boys, a number of tho members of Judge Willis Brown's betterment better-ment league related tho experiences that they had during the pa-si week, at the boys' meetings held In the gymnasium of tho Y. M. C. A. Sunday afternoon. About four hundred nnd fifty boys wero present pres-ent at the mooting, which was one of the most enthusiastic ones held In many months. Another fcaturo of tho meeting was the appearanco of the Salt Lake Ju-vonllc Ju-vonllc band, which rendered a number of selections during the afternoon. Boys Sing "America." Tho meeting, which was presided over by Judge Brown and F. J. Lucas wa3 called to order at I o'clock, and lasted for over an hour. Tho opening feature was the singing of "America" by all the boys, lod by the two presiding officers. There was not a boy present who did not join In the singing of the national air and It was a great credit to the meeting. Addresses by tho Lads. Addresses were made by Allan Anslcy, aged sixteen years, upon the subject of "Loyalty" in which ho urged his fellow-mcmbcra fellow-mcmbcra to stick close to their ribbons, "I. A. C." (I'm a Christian) and lend better lives. Raymond Brown, aged seventeen sev-enteen years, spoke upon the ''Bible Classes" and their development. Ward Caasldv aang a solo, entitled "The Bird wltn a Broken Wing." Mllo Daly and Owen McAller rendered a cornet duct. Queer Experiences Detailed. Judge Brown then called upon some of the boys to relate their experiences during tho past week of dnfcndlng the assaults made against the "I. A. C." ribbons, which wero given out about a week ago. Some of the experiences rolated by tho lada were amusing and showed a great deal of patriotism. Most of tho stories wero of what passed between tho young mornbers and their assailcrs and generally general-ly ended In the statement, "when I could not prove by argument that I am a Christian 1 'punched his face.' " After a short address by Judge Brown on "Loyalty." tho meeting was dismissed. |
