Show DIS CHIMIN ATING MERCY. The Deseret News crows plaintive; editorially, becauso the entirety of its articles are not reprinted by unfriendly unfriend-ly commentators. The Tribune has no desire to disguise the fact that the Deseret News points Its finger strongly In this direction. Of late The Tribune's practice has been only to quoto so much of any one editorial from the Deseret News as, in our judgment, our readers can endure to peruse and as will demonstrate any particular point in tho great controversy now waging in this State to an ultimate. It was not always so, as readers with good memory will recall. The Tribune was wont to give much space to the editorial twaddle of the Deseret News In order that all people might know the method of argument (or lack of both method and argument) prevailing in the ofilce of the church organ. The task grew wearisome and, in addition, ad-dition, the Deseret News always failed to reciprocate, preferring to answer something that The Tribune did not say rather than to allow Its readers to know what were the particular charges made and proved against the hierarchy and the apostollcally edited church journal. However, there has ibeen scrupulous care by Tho Tribune not to attribute any utterance lo the Deseret ' News which ' was not in accord with the facts. Heaven knows that there was not any necessity for exaggeration; the very worst that The Tribune can say of the paper, the News says of Itself. No other human creature Is so degraded de-graded as to originate against that paper, pa-per, its editor and Its controller, the things that they prove against themselves them-selves by their utterances and their actions. ac-tions. The News' should be grateful Instead of angry. The less that The Tribune quotes from the church organ the less condemnation Is passed upon the News by public Judgment. |
