Show BLOND OR BRUNETTE. Washington Star. There is a revival of controversy over the relative merit of the blond and brunette. bru-nette. Maj. Charles E. Woodruff, a surgeon sur-geon in the United,. States army, believes be-lieves in the superiority of tho blond. It is a difficult question. Most men at some time in their life have preferred pre-ferred a blond and at some other time a brunette. Some men have no doubt endeavored to prefer both a blond and a brunette at the same time, but efforts ef-forts of tills kind are fraught with danger dan-ger and have been known to cause trouble. trou-ble. Almost as much depends upon the manner of a lady as upon the color of her hair, 5nd both are changeable. A blond who will let a man talk big, encourage en-courage him to talk about himself, make him feel that he is the whole thing, and otherwise tickle his vanity. Is apt to be preferred to the brunette who makes a man feel that ho Is only five feet tall, with a consumptive chest, no more backbone than an eel and altogether al-together a pale gray half-brother to a horse. There are many men who say they are not susceptible to llattery, but they are falsifiers. Every girl, blond or brunette, knows that If she should kick the conceit out of a man, his best friends would not be able to Identify the remains. So,; a good deal depends upon tho manner and habits of a lady, as upon her hair. Then, there are so many kinds of blonds. There Is the born blond and the blond by adoption. Some blonds by adoption have been so recently re-cently naturalized as blonds that the color does not seem to fit. while others are such old offenders that they don't care what the neighbors say. Blond hair has one great advantage over brunette bru-nette hair in that it does not show gray so distinctly. Altogether, blond ladies are very proud persons; but there seems no reason rea-son In logic, or-out of it, why a scrawny blond with frowsy clothes should be preferred to a "brunette who is adequately ade-quately fed and takes intelligent Interest Inter-est In her toilet. On the other hand. It Is conceivable that in some circumstances circum-stances a blond might be preferred to a brunette. |
