Show IOPEN CENTRAL OREGON. Harriman Buys a Road for the 0. R. PORTLAND. Or.. Nov. 2. It Is asserted In railroad circles In this city that R. II. Harrlman has purchased the Columbia Southern railroad, running from The Dalles to Shanlko, a distance of seventy miles. While the road as it now stands Is of little Importance, surveys have been made to points In tho extreme southern part of this State, and If the purchase has In reality been made It would Indicate that It Is the Intention of the Oregon Railroad & Navigation company to open up Central Oregon, which will bo the most Important railway project this Slate has seen since tho completion of the transcontinental roads. |
