Show COMPLIMENT TO M'CLELLAN. Utah. Musician. Invited to Play the Big Organ at World's Fair. J. J. McClellan yesterday received a letter let-ter from EVncst R. Kroeger, chief of the bureau of music of lho St. Louis fair, asking ask-ing him to play at Fostlval hall November 21 and 22. It has been decided to continue con-tinue the organ recitals nomowhat later than was at first Intended, and Prof. McClellan Mc-Clellan Ib ono of tho several organists In lho country who have been Invited to give recitals on tho big organ IIo has not yet decided whether lfe will accept tho Invitation, but his friends hore are anxious that ho shall go. Speaking of the invitation yesterday, Mr. McClellan said he considered It a great compliment that he had been Invited In-vited to play While In St. Louis two weeks ago ho was asked several times to try tho organ, but declined, as he felt that thosrt who were Indignant because he was not Invited among tho first to play would think he was pushing himself had he ucccpted the Invitations Personally Mr. McClellan says he never felt slighted in tho least, as he knew how It happened; that he Is entirely unknown In tho East, and has never had tho slightest feeling against tlu bureau of music becauso he was not among the organists Invited to givo recitals. If he does accept tho invitation, Mr. McClellan will glvo varied programmes, Including somo by Bach and' Wagner, but will also give a few of the numbers which appeal so much to the visitors from all parts of the world who liavo bo greatly enjoyed the Tabernacle recitals during lho years that Mr. McClellan has presided presid-ed over the great organ. |
