Show PLACATING FARMERS, Hunting Club Has Adopted a Bather Uniquo Scheme. NEW YORK, Nov. 2. A unique scheme for educating- Long Island farmers up to tho beauties of cross country riding after the hounds is being be-ing made by the Meudow Brook Hunt club. The Idea of the clubmen Is to conciliate the angry spirit many agriculturists agri-culturists have shown against the horsemen horse-men galloping ncross iheir fields. The names of all the farmers of the townships of North Hempstead and Oyster Bay have been obtained, and to each will be sent free subscriptions to a number of the popular magazines nnd papers. It Is also Intended to distribute among the schools of the two townships about COOO volumes of school books and the latest encyclopaedias. At the close of the season the club managers will give a monster dinner for all the farmers of the two townships. Efforts are also being made to have a series of races for the farm horses. |
