Show NEW BORE PLANNED FOR THE GAS FIELD Frank J. Rudy, who has for a quarter of a century resided on a ranch at North Point, between this city and tho Jordan river, and who was among tho first to tap tho baain for gas and oil, was In town again yesterday. It was on his estate that the deepest gas bore In the State was put down by the Salt Lake Natural Gas company, of which the lato Wendall Benson was president, while associated with It was C. O. Whlttemore, Gus Holmes, L- C. Ker-rlck Ker-rlck and W. A, Nelden. Mr. Rudy says that In tho bore oil as well as gas was encountered, the latter at a depth of thirty-eight feet. That both will be found ln Commercial quantity ln the future Mr. Rudy has no doubt whatever, what-ever, and believing it sincerely, he has, with associates, acquired by location, purchase, etc., over forty thousand acres of ground In Salt Lake valley. It Is their Intention to put down a well near Antelope Island, and with the and one near the mouth of the Jordan river, he expects to see the merits of the basin from an oil-producing standpoint stand-point soon demonstrated. Along the east rim of Antelope Island Mr. Rudy says there are a number of points at which the gas Ignites at the surface, this issuing from meters below. His party will have effected arrangements for sinking in a few days. |
