Wednesday night say that an entirely wrong impression is given by the Standards Stand-ards account of the lecture especially by the headlines which made the claim that the senator is a Washakie and that lie indorsed the test question signed sign-ed by all aspirants for membership in lie Washakie club To see what a Hop it would really tie were the senator to subscribe to such a set of questions they are here printed print-ed dAPPLICATION APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP I hereby make application for mom ership in the Washakie club and answer an-swer all the following questions in the affirmative 1 entirely and abso utely aside before you are admitted to membership CANNONS POSITION The claim is made by a number of Mr Cannons friends that he did not subscribe to the questions personally but believed in the formation of such societies on general principles The point he wished to emphasize was the advisability of having men declare themselves for or against great public questions After the reading of the test auestions Mr Cannon was introduced intro-duced and began his address It was but natural that he should comment on those questions Mr Cannon said that international bimetallism by the Republican party was as impossible as a trip to the moon in an airship It was certainly time then for an organization in Utah for silver so that its friends and its enemies ene-mies might be known New York was advised to organize a Washakie club Mr Cannon advanced a number of the usual arguments in favor of bimetallism bimetal-lism and commented with sarcasm on the work or lack of work of the Wol oott commission Democrats in Utah he said are now trembling for the cause of silver saying forces are at work to havo the next national platform plat-form repudiate the last one Mr Cannon also expressed his sense of the fitness in the name Washakie as the senator had known the old chieftain chief-tain tainOf Of course the Washakie club could have no objection to Senator Cannon becoming a Democrat by endorsing their principles and would in fact hail such an acquisition with satisfaction but as a matter of fact they say he did not become a Democrat and it is unfair un-fair to so misrepresent him They regret re-gret that Mr Cannon should be so represented rep-resented as to his utterances on an occasion oc-casion when he was their guest Since he wishes to be known as a silver Republican Re-publican they say his wish should be respected Therefore it is left for Senator Sen-ator Cannon to explain bow a man can be a silver man and a Republican when Republicans can no more accomplish bimetallism than they can take a trip to the moon County Commissioners Meet The county commissioners met yesterday yes-terday in adjourned session They refused re-fused to confirm the
