Show MINING AT MJ3RCUB Extensive Development Projected For the Black Horse Mercur Dec 2S E McConkey has commenced work on the Valley View group and will drive an incline of 250 feet The group has been pretty well prospected in the past and the whereabouts where-abouts oC the vein pretty definitely located lo-cated Last year a shaft was sunk on It I the property CO feet at which point the ore was reached From this point an Incline was run 40 feet on the dip of I the vein About 60 feet of drifting was also done at this point and the vein I pretty well proved up I is now intended in-tended to make permanent works from I which the vein will be developed with a view to erecting a mill when necessary I neces-sary I is proposed to do considerable I development work in the ground this winter Work at the Wonder is once more I under way and a great deal is hoped for from the new superintendent W T McFarlane The gentleman is a miner of experience and for several years was foreman of the Golden Gate and is well acquainted with the workings in that famous property No one in camp is better able to search for the vein than Mr McFarlane The work is at present being done on the 600foot level Jack Davis paid a visit to the Annie yesterday and on measuring up found that the shaft had reached a depth of SOS feet There is still a distance of 45 feet to sink on the contract taken by Kellogg Burmester from which point it will be determined in what direction direc-tion the work will be continued The formation is at present a shale full of pyrites of iron which carries values in gold and at various points seems to be heavily mineralized I is likely that the ore zone will be reached before be-fore long I Work on the Black Horse group east of the Daisy will bo oummpnctu in a few days The property belongs to Mr Dignowity who did considerable prospecting on the group last year I The contract will be let in a few days for 2300 worth of work which it is believed wH prove up the value of j the property Good assays have been found at different points on the property i i prop-erty and the work of development will i be continued through the winter j The return of Hon Thomas Merrill lerri i is earnestly looked for as it is understood under-stood that a new era of activity at the I Vanderbllt will be inaugurated as soon as he reaches the camp Work has been I going along slowly for the past few months but the results have been grat I ifying |
