Show ASSAULTED HIS SISTER John Lawson of Grass Creek ICanyon Now In Jail Coalville Dec IJohn V Lawson a young farmer living at the mouth of Grass Creek canyon about three miles from here was today sentenced to pay a fine of 25 and costs of court and also to dwell 25 days in the county jail by Justice W H Smith for assault and battery upon his sister It seems that a familY jar arose between them over the sale of a load of hay and other farm produce which greatly angered him Hot words led to blows and John threw his sister down and severely choked her also making other violent threats against her causing her much alarm whereupon she came to Coal ville and swore out a complaint against him and placed it in the hands of Deputy Dep-uty Sheriff Faddies who went to Johns home arrested him and brought him to Coalville At a meeting of the county commissioners commis-sioners today the county treasurer was instructed to publish the delinquent tax list in pursuance of the law governing the same and to receive bids and let the contract to the lowest bidder after which the meeting adjourned Commissioners Commis-sioners Carruth and McDonough only were present at the meeting |
