circles durIng dur-Ing the past year This apple to the societies of the state in genera and those of Sat Lake In particular While the local branches of the dlfrent orders or-ders have not had any single event ot overshadowing importance to create an undue interest In their work theIr cure during the year 1899 ha been marked by increased membership and more extended charitable fraternal and benevolent accomplishments The later features of the work have ben made possible by an incIeac and more extensive liberalIty as to contributions butons on the part of the local member mem-ber showing conclusively that fraternity frater-nity Is the spirit of the times At the present time there are about a tme tere ae dozen different secret and fraternal orders or-ders wit branches in Utah all of which have subordinate organizations In Salt Lake Masonic At the present time there are ten Masonic lOdge In the state with an aggregate membershIp of aboUt SOP Three of these lodges are in Salt Lake They are Mt lorlah lodge No2 Charles J Hlgson maser and ChrIstopher ChrIsto-pher DIeh secretary with a membership member-ship of 200 an increase of 10 per cent during the year Watch lodge No I W O Bridge I mamaster and A J Lowe secretary with a memberilp of 15 an increase of nearly 10 per cent during 1899 Argenta lodge No3 W T Shelton master and M G PhiIps secretary wIth a membership of 125 a gain bt about 8 per cent during the past year All branches of the Qrde1 In Sat Lake frOm the blue loges up are on a sound bas with strengthened finances and a ears record of good deeds t their credit Throughout the sate the blue lodge have ben very fortunate during 1899 The member of the tPleasant and Pak City lodges whose lodge room were both destroyed by fire during the preceding ea have ben brings the total membership for the twentyseven lodges In the jurisdiction up to 310 and that of th three Salt Lake lodge up to CO During the year new lodges were instituted at Richfield and Robi son both of which furnished comfortable comfort-able new lodge rooms In Sal Lake City the three lodges combined and have furnished a ledge room on South Main street In the latest I prved style placing In Alt of the local camps are In a sound financial condition and have increased In-creased their membership at least 51 per cent during thc year As a e ample of the work te local camps are doing nothing beter can be found tan I their financial reports which show that during the lat month alone over 800 was paid out to wIde ad orphans I The local Women have mblned to build a home of their own where their metng can be held and other bus ness of the order transacted All are contributing to a common fund for the I pOrpese During the past year the cps gave over 500 to this fund in I addition to caring on theIr other work I Foresters I The Foresters of America now have one gad court and seven subordinate court In the state wit a memberShip member-ship of about 60 In this jurisdiction again a-gain of 10 per cent over 1598 The grand I curt and two subordinate courts In Sat Lake City now have a membership I of nearly 30 I GAB A Father Time dealt kindly with the G A R during 1899 and as a
