at Kyune The granite deposies are found all over the state alhouh those at Cottonwood Alpine and Brigham Brig-ham City have been developed to the greatest extent Marble Deposits While marble has not been used for structural purpose a yet In this state deots of It abound In Utah In va iety the deposits embrace the best kinds While not fully developed as yet considerable has been done in that line The marble most easily o tanable at present are from the deposits along Snake creek and In the Heber valley Heretofore the oners of these deposIts depos-Its have been handicapped in carrying I forward the quarrying of their marble because of the difficulty of getting It to a railroad The building of the Provo valley branch ot the Rio Grande West er however has obviated this difficulty diffi-culty and great developments are looked for in the marble bulnes ring r-Ing the het year or two The vane ties found in the two localities mentioned men-tioned are the pure white and mottled I Serpentine marbles are found at Hob 1le creek and Payson In cualy the Snake creek marble equals that ot Vermont while the serpentine varieties found at Hobble creek are similar to and compare favorablY with the same varieties which are found In Tennessee Tennes-see A deposit of black marble has been found near Lehl I has not been developed as yet although work enough ha been done to show that if It can be obtained In sufficient size It wi compare favorablY with the amo1S Belgium marble Another large deposit of puce white marble has ben found about three miles south of Frlso and Is being de I veloped a rapidly as possible I Is I from This deposit that the mntle will be taken to build the new rrldence of Thomas Kearns This is an innovation innova-tion In Salt Lake building lines as never heretofore has Utah marble been I used wholly In the construction of a Utah reldence I To complete the real I dence it is estimated I It wIll reaulre not less than 1200 tons of the Fnieco marble This marble has been thoroughly thor-oughly tested and found to be satisfactory satisfac-tory for building purposes In every way Since the completion of the temple but little granite has been used for building purposes Tkis is due to the cot necessitated In working the stone However during the past year the pee pIe have shown evidences or prosperity and are beginning to use I again The principal stone u ed
