Show TO GO ABROAD Artist Harwood to Resume His Studies in the French Schools It is but a few years since James T Har wood whose name is now well up among those of Utahs leading artists was plodding plod-ding along in Lehi enlivening his other pursuits by painting a small picture now and then It soon became evident that the younc man possessed undoubted talent and h ivna nrlwinorl to fn1rn iin tim itnilv nf nvf It was a long pull and a hard pull oJ but he 1 finally succeeded and entered the Juiiin art school in Paris where he studied assiduously as-siduously for two years advancing rapidly I in his chosen profession During that time he traveled over a goodly portion of the old world and gathered maui a little gem Many of these he has transferred to canvas since he has been in this city and somewhere some-where about one hundred specimens of his skill with the brush are now on exhibition on tho second floor of Calders music palace These works are In oil water color crayon and pastel and they make a collection well worth seeing The hall was visited by several hundred people last evening and the young artist received many compliments compli-ments As Mr Harwood intends to leave this week for Paris to complete his art studies or at least to farther pursue them the entire collection will be disposed of the sale commencing tomorrow evening |
