Show Openinz of the Wasalch The opening races at the new Wasatch Driving park took place yesterday afternoon after-noon The weather was excellent and although al-though it being a bad day for business men to get away from their respective places many took advantage of the days outing and accompanied the vast throng to the race track beyond the Ogden river which in years to come will be the pride of the Junction city The grounds are located in a beautiful locality lo-cality between Sixteenth and Seventeenth streets and about a block and a half west of the street car line Shade trees are plentiful on either side of the grounds and when the hot rays of sunshine come down in the summer months cool hitching places can be found for teams Water is plenti ful and in fact all the necessaries for a firstclass fair ground and driving park are there had7 The grounds have recently been fenced and large amphitheatre sheds and other buildings are under erection The first of yesterdays races was a quarter mile running race between Kate owned by Mr Graham Dexter owned by Mr Densdale and Grey Rooster owned by J H Wartbuian The latter won In 25 4 seconds Several trotting races were made between be-tween thg moro prominent horses in Ogden The judges were Preston Blair F E Norton and R J Starbuck T A Harris was timekeeper and William Augston recorder re-corder Tom Huler did a thriving business I in selling pools |
